Bamboo Privacy Screening

See how bamboo privacy screens are fast growing, often drought tolerant and add great interest

A video transcript featuring Ive Haugeland, Shades of Green Landscape Architecture

We used bamboo to screen this property because it's a fairly narrow property and there are houses really tight onto each side. Bamboo is the perfect plant for instant screening in narrow spaces because it stays narrow. It's tall already when you get it. It grows really fast. Here we used a mix of black bamboo and a golden bamboo and a leopards timber bamboo.

Installing a root barrier
One of the main, super-important things when you use a running bamboo is that you have to have a root barrier, because if you don't they're going to come up everywhere. And a root barrier can be a plastic sheet that is, like, 24 inches down in the ground. And it has to stick up because they can kind of jump over, too, so that's really important.
