When you have a large existing tree, like this big plane tree, putting up a swing is really fun, both for grown-ups and for kids. It's a very inexpensive, fun thing to have. For a big swing like this, which is really tall, you need a 25- to 30-foot clearing on both sides. If you decide to do something similar, be sure to check with safety codes so you don't have any accidents.
