Permeable gravel and grass driveway pavers
This grass paver driveway is attractive and permeable. Gabriela Yariv Landscape Design in Santa Monica, CA.
Traditional driveway materials such as concrete or asphalt pose a drainage problem. If designed incorrectly water may pool on driveways, cause discoloration, or run off creating a muddy mess and leaving your front yard looking like a swamp.
However, there are other driveway material options that are permeable, meaning water will flow through them and into the ground underneath.
The first option is to have gravel pavers installed. Gravel pavers have an open cell structure which is filled with whatever color gravel you like. Water will flow through the pavers and gravel without eroding the driveway. Essentially, the pavers hold the gravel in place.
A second option is grass pavers. Grass pavers are often made of concrete and have voids where grass can be planted and water can flow through. Grass pavers provide a unique look that integrates your driveway into the rest of your landscape.
